Free opera presentation for kids in Miami

POSTED BY
Teresa

Florida Grand Opera is presenting a free opera adventure for children, designed for families and neurodivergent students.

The bilingual story “Bear Hug/Abrazo de Oso” will be presented at 4 p.m. Saturday, February 7, at Trinity Episcopal Church in Miami.

Here’s the story synopsis:

When Bearnardo, the Spanish Brown Bear, is lost in his newfound home at the zoo, he meets a few friends along the way that make him feel at home. He joins Polly the Panda and Marla the Koala Bear, and they all discover the meaning of fun and friendship despite the fact that they speak different languages. Together the three bears help Griff, the big scary Grizzly Bear, open up to his softer side and transform him from a bully to a best bear friend. This opera teaches the important lesson that while we maybe all be different on the outside, we all have the same heart.

This all-access presentation, by Nashville Opera, offers supportive resources to help every audience member feel comfortable and confident, including social stories, picture synopses, quiet spaces, and sensory-friendly toolkits to use during the performance.

Admission is free, but space is limited and RSVP is required. Get free tickets here.

Trinity Episcopal Church is at 464 NE 16th St., Miami, FL 33132.
